The New VTU Percentage Formula

For older schemes (2018 and prior), VTU students used to calculate their percentage using the formula (CGPA - 0.75) × 10. This is completely outdated for newer batches.

For 2021, 2022, and 2025 Schemes, the official formula is:

Percentage = CGPA × 10

For example, if your CGPA is 8.25, your percentage is strictly 82.50%.

How to Calculate SGPA

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) represents your performance in a single semester. It is a weighted average based on the credits assigned to each subject.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens if I get an 'F' grade?

If you score below 40 marks overall (or fail the SEE criteria), you receive an 'F' grade (0 points). Your SGPA for that semester cannot be formally finalized until you clear the backlog, though an indicative SGPA will drop significantly.

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is for one specific 6-month semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the combined average of all the semesters you have completed so far.
